Team work…
We develop the skills required to make an effective team.
Pollination
We used drama to remember how pollination happens. We know this is the function of the flower.
Partitioning
We have partitioned a three-digit number to make mental subtraction easier. We know we can partition numbers such as 123 into 100 and 23. We showed brilliant collaboration!
Roman Empire weapons
We explored what a javelin, sword and shield was. We know facts about these weapons and applied this to create our own. The javelins are taller than us!
Changing statements into questions
We can use these rhetorical questions in our persuasive advert!
Organising sentences under sub-headings
We know that adverts need sub-headings to organise information. We organised a range of sentences under the correct sub-headings.
Partitioning
We used base ten to support our understanding of partitioning when subtracting mentally. We know to subtract the tens first, then the ones.
Using dictionaries
We were collaborative while using dictionaries. We searched for the definitions of: propped, striking, particular, scraggy, craning and suspense.
Special place
We know that the Kaaba is a special place for people who worship Islam. We learnt what Muslims do when they visit and why they visit.
Year 3 – PE
We focus on developing our skills to make an effective team.
Balances…
To re-create symmetrical and asymmetrical balances using apparatus
Book and a Blanket
We enjoyed welcoming families back to school this week for "Book and a Blanket" bedtime story time in our fabulous library.
Mirroring
We had to improvise this week as the hall is out of use. We were very creative with our paired mirroring sequences! Respect, co-operation, feedback and evaluation were all possible with our encouraging mindsets. [gallery type="rectangular"...
Gymnastics – travelling
We move out of symmetrical balances on an apparatus.
Multiplication fun!
We enjoyed different games to practise our times tables.
A Roman banquet!
We looked at different people from the Roman Empire. We considered which foods they may need or could afford and created a plate of food for them. We explored some unfamiliar foods too. We know the Roman Empire introduced many new foods to Britannia. [gallery...
Adjusting …
If we know an addend is close to a multiple of ten, we know to adjust the number to make mental addition easier. We must not forget to subtract one from our answer too!
What could different characters be thinking?
We highlighted the evidence and colour coded our thought bubbles for different characters. We inferred Veruca Salt, Mr Salt, the factory workers and the newspaper's thoughts about how the golden ticket was found.
