Year 3

Partitioning

Partitioning

We have partitioned a three-digit number to make mental subtraction easier. We know we can partition numbers such as 123 into 100 and 23. We showed brilliant collaboration!

Roman Empire weapons

Roman Empire weapons

We explored what a javelin, sword and shield was. We know facts about these weapons and applied this to create our own. The javelins are taller than us!

Partitioning

Partitioning

We used base ten to support our understanding of partitioning when subtracting mentally. We know to subtract the tens first, then the ones.

Using dictionaries

Using dictionaries

We were collaborative while using dictionaries. We searched for the definitions of: propped, striking, particular, scraggy, craning and suspense.

Special place

Special place

We know that the Kaaba is a special place for people who worship Islam. We learnt what Muslims do when they visit and why they visit.

Mirroring

Mirroring

We had to improvise this week as the hall is out of use. We were very creative with our paired mirroring sequences! Respect, co-operation, feedback and evaluation were all possible with our encouraging mindsets. [gallery type="rectangular"...

A Roman banquet!

A Roman banquet!

We looked at different people from the Roman Empire. We considered which foods they may need or could afford and created a plate of food for them. We explored some unfamiliar foods too. We know the Roman Empire introduced many new foods to Britannia. [gallery...

Adjusting …

Adjusting …

If we know an addend is close to a multiple of ten, we know to adjust the number to make mental addition easier. We must not forget to subtract one from our answer too!
