This morning, we are using money to solve tricky calculation questions.
We’re enjoying making plans for our writing mission – Introducing Harry Potter.
We learned about the importance of the Seder meal, eaten by Jews, at Passover.
We have over arm and under arm throwing, catching, batting and wicket keeping cricket skills in the bag. Watch out…cricket season is here!

This week’s maths lessons are directly linked to the following IMPORTANT vocabulary: credit card, debit card, debit, overdraft, instalment, finance, limit, budget, loan, savings, deposit and interest. We are well-prepared for the future.

After a long Bank Holiday weekend, it was delightful to hear about a trip to the Harry Potter shop on the Shambles in York. It is also fantastic to see how our class text has inspired a spectacular Knight Bus DT PROJECT.
Callum gave us opportunities to learn new skills, devise short games and explain the rules to others. We considered how to adapt activities so that they are age appropriate.
We’re investigating current electricity and making complete circuits, using batteries, bulbs, switches and crocodile clips. Great teamwork Foxes: we have some potential physics professors amongst us.

Here are our newest brass musicians. They have really enjoyed class brass lessons and have decided to take up the offer of small group lessons. Welcome to the team.

We’re using our mathematical knowledge to represent decimals on place value boards. We can confidently exchange 10 tenths for a one and 10 hundredths for a tenth.
Our coachload of excited brass musicians left Birkwood early on Saturday morning. They were heading for Corby Business Academy in Corby, Northamptonshire to perform alongside youth bands from all over England! Birkwood brass were a credit to their school and family throughout the day; their showcase received excellent feedback, cheers, and enthusiastic applause.
This truly was a community day to remember. Here’s a snapshot of our day down south.
Mrs M was delighted with this pianist’s beautifully paced, well phrased and accurate playing today! This is the first piece in her new music book. Keep up the great work.

What would we do?
We learnt about the chancellor of the exchequer, the treasury, the Bank of England and the Spring Statement. Just before the chancellor released his decisions, we were asked, “If you could call Rishi Sunak, what would you advise?”
Our science investigation involved pitch. We concluded that the more water the lower the pitch.
