Brushing our Teeth
We started our new topic in PSHE this week. We will be learning about the importance of brushing our teeth. We shared what we already know to begin with.
Expanded noun phrases
We have used our knowledge of adjectives and nouns to help us create expanded noun phrases to describe the characters and settings in 'Pumpkin Soup'.
Where do materials come from?
We have learnt about where different materials come from. We then completed a matching activity. We worked in groups to match the materials to their source.
Adding with multiples of 10
We know that we can use our knowledge of adding ones to help solve problems involving multiples of 10.
Subtracting with multiples of 10
We have used our knowledge of subtracting with ones to help us subtract multiples of 10!
Route Explorers lesson 2
We have explored using the arrow keys and the number keys to give clear directions to the characters so they follow an effective route.
Juxtaposition
We have created our own versions of Georgia O'Keeffe's flowers using tissue paper. We talked about juxtaposition and know this means there should be no gaps between the pieces of tissue paper.
Team building lesson 2
We are learning to create simple strategies for completing a challenge using effective communication skills.
Football- Passing and receiving
Year 3 Jemison have introduced passing and receiving into their games in order to keep possession of the ball. They have also developed and understanding of how to win a ball back.
Identifying buildings in Barnsley.
We looked at buildings of significance in Barnsley, past and present, and discovered St Mary's Church is the oldest building in Barnsley!
We know that adding and subtracting 10 from a multiple of 10, gives the next/previous multiple of 10.
Barnsley’s Coat of Arms
We looked at Barnsley's Coat of Arms and discussed the different pictures we could see. We know why these pictures are important and understand their significance to Barnsley's history.
Mastering Number
We used our Rekenreks to create different numbers to 10. We then worked to ‘find the 5’ in each number.
Conscience Alley
We used conscience alley to explore the thoughts and feelings of the characters from the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’.
Our first P4C session of the year!
We talked about our classroom community. We will listen carefully, join in and contribute respectfully. We then answered a 'would you rather...?' question to get us thinking.
Touch typing
We are really enjoying our touch-typing lessons. We are exploring the home row keys.
Ten ones are equal to one ten
We have used dienes, coins and uni fix cubes to explore the concept of ten ones being equal to one ten!
Freeze Framest
We used freeze frames to show how we thought Duck, Cat and Squirrel would feel at different points in the story.
