Year 3 Jemison have learned about the 5 pillars of Islam and how Muslims respect these rules as part of their religion. We then used our understanding of rules to debate the question ‘What would happen if everyone broke rules?’
We learnt about how Muslims show kindness in their communities. We looked at a special story called ‘The Prophet and the Hungry Stranger’ and discussed what lesson Muslims learn from this.
We have learnt about how Buddhists show care and kindness for their community. We then learnt about Bhikkhus and Bhikkhunis. We learnt about their daily life and created a daily diary to show the activities they complete.
The Year 4 Ada Lovelace class created a short play to understand the community cohesion based on Shahada, Salah, Zakat, Fasting and Pilgrimage which constitute the foundations of Islamic practice.
The Year 4 Ada Lovelace class enjoyed creating a play linked to community cohesion based on Judaism; The Story of Ruth and Naomi.
This year’s theme for Interfaith Week was community. Each year group learned how different religions contribute to community and we presented what we had learned in an assembly at the end of the week.

Today, we looked at how Christians support and help the community. We then designed our own posters to advertise an event to help our community.
As part of InterFaith Week, we looked at how people who follow the Sikh religion supports communities their community. We had our own langar in the hall and discussed acts of seva(selfless service), then made thank you cards for staff.
