Winter weather can cause serious disruption.

We will endeavour to open the school every day to make sure that children and their learning come first.  However, if the School’s Leadership Team feels that the weather would put anyone at risk, we will take appropriate steps to minimise this.

The steps taken may include:

Opening school as normal whilst allowing later or delayed registration.
Closing the school when it is not safe to open.

We take a number of factors into consideration when making any decision relating to school opening/closure including:

Current weather conditions & safety of our School site.
Use of Weather Forecast to evaluate conditions up to school’s closing times
Availability of staff
Availability of key non-teaching staff (premises and catering)

There are various ways that you can find out about our decision if we decide to close:

1. The closure will be sent to all families by Text Message so please ensure that we have your current number, (sometimes when the service is busy it can take a while for the messages to be delivered to your phone.)
2. The closure will be announced on our website.
3. The closure will be announced on our X (formerly Twitter) Page.
4. The closure will be emailed to all families (as with the Newsletter each week.)
5. The closure will be announced on the Barnsley Council School Closure Website

https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/schools-and-education/schools-currently-closed/

We would politely ask all families to share any closure with friends etc. should one occur.

If it does snow and we feel that it is still safe to open school, please send your child(ren) in suitable clothing (and with a change of clothing) so that they can make the most of the weather and go outside and play during the day.
