PSHE \/ RSHE Assessments<\/strong><\/p>\n

PSHE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Assessment for Learning techniques are used at the beginning of a taught module to capture children\u2019s current knowledge and understanding.<\/p>\n

Teachers use these assessments to plan what needs to be taught or recapped in the module.<\/p>\n

Once the teaching sequence is completed, children present their new learning through completion of a learning journal that relates to specific learning statements.<\/p>\n

Ready to Progress in RSHE and PSHE<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The PSHE Ready to Progress Criteria\u00a0<\/strong>is a document of summative statements used to establish if our children are able to apply the knowledge from our curriculum at an age appropriate level.<\/p>\n

In addition, at Birkwood, we reward pupils through a house points system. Children achieve these for a variety of effortful, respectful and kind decisions, actions and choice hence praising practical wisdom on their progression towards human flourishing. Children are encouraged and build self-awareness, self-esteem and self-confidence.<\/p>\n

RSE<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We formatively assess children, invite questions through a worry box system and track progress through a range of activities which are not shared in floor books.<\/p>\n

We take a whole school approach to monitoring behaviour including respectful, kind and appropriate attitudes and actions. Our expert safeguarding team follow up any support required for children and their families. This includes advice and support with online safety, mental health and healthy friendships.<\/p>\n
