Year 4 Woodpeckers’ Class Assembly

A Titanic performance! The audience were treated to a real show, full of acting, singing, sharing of work and dancingtoo! Well done to all the children and thank you to our #incrediblecommunity for their continued support.

Cook It

The Woodpeckers have enjoyed learning about Stone Age this half term and have baked some delicious shortbreads in Cook It. They then used their shortbreads to recreate the famous Stone Age landmark Stonehenge.

Our Parish Church

Thank you so much to Father David for making Year 4 so welcome at St John’s, Cudworth. We learned about the Christian faith and the importance of Lent and Easter for Christians. Thanks to Father David for explaining about tolerance and respect for other faiths- something that is close to our hearts at the moment.

Recreating The Titanic

The Woodpeckers are enjoying finding out about life on-board the Titanic and have been busy recreating this amazing ship. They have designed and created their own cabins, thinking carefully about the first, second and third classes passengers on-board and how their cabins would be decorated. They even designed their own miniature wooden furniture.

REALLY Good News!

We spent time discussing the amazing rescue mission to free a youth football team and their coach from a cave in Thailand.

REAL Food

We harvested peas and strawberries from the community garden. By 11am, they were all gone! We loved having a mid-morning, healthy snack time.

In the Style of…..

‘How does your garden grow?’ is our topic this half term. We looked at the works and techniques of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Please enjoy our beautiful paintings.

Quick as a Flash!

We have worked SO hard at our times tables. Look at the speed and accuracy in this pair of mathematicians. We love watching the celebration at the end!

Today’s science investigation was linked to magnetic materials, but specifically focused on magnetic and non-magnetic metals.

Homemade Takeaway Tea

We enjoyed preparing our very own tea today. On the menu is fishcake, new potatoes cooked with school grown mint and a beautiful chefs’ special salad. Delicious!

Golden Day

The Woodpeckers spent a wonderful afternoon watching the 2nd leg of the Tour de Yorkshire in Barnsley Town Centre. The children were fantastic ambassadors for our school and thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle of this exciting international sporting event!
