Road Safety Launch

Our School Council have featured in the Barnsley Chronicle. They have assisted Barnsley MBC in a new road safety campaign. They aim to remind pedestrians, cyclists, motorbike users and drivers that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. We were delighted to assist!

Road Safety School Council Stars

We were delighted to help Barnsley Council in promoting successful Road Safety around the Borough. Our School Council were filmed for some awareness campaigns to attempt to keep everyone safe around schools. A brilliant activity that we are proud to endorse!

Progress Update…

Many thanks to John from O&P who gave our School Council a tour of the new classrooms – set for completion around Easter. We were certainly excited to see what is in store for our new areas! An excellent afternoon.

MP Visits Birkwood

Our School Council were visited by Stephanie Peacock MP. Stephanie shared her experiences as an MP, answered lots of questions and also received a tour of the ‘New Birkwood!’ A great privilege to welcome Stephanie to school.

Blue & Yellow

Wow! Our Blue & Yellow Day arranged by the School Council raised over £300 for people suffering in Ukraine. We also collected an amazing array of goods and clothes which were kindly delivered by Dean Whitfield and Rhys with our Councillors to Lundwood Social Club and added to their collection. An amazing thoughtful, empathetic piece of work showing amazing compassion and kindness.
Well done everyone and thank you!

We Will Remember Them

Thank you to our lovely School Council who represented Birkwood at Cudworth’s 2021 Remembrance Service. Father David led our respect and gratitude to those who have helped to protect our country and made so many sacrifices. Father David used the immortal words, When you go home, Tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow, We gave our today. Thank you to Mrs. Sutton and to Year 4 for their beautiful communal wreath which was laid at the Cenotaph. A morning of great pride, respect and of course reflection.

Children in Need…

Thank you to Mrs. White and Mrs. White for their help in organising our School Council’s Children in Need Store. All monies raised from a wide variety of merchandise will benefit this fabulous cause. Really well done!

Afternoon Tea with Mrs Allen

Our School Council enjoyed a very special Afternoon Tea with Mrs Allen to celebrate their time as School Councillors. We loved the buns (thanks to Poppies of Cudworth), the party bags (thanks to Mrs Tracey White) and the cups of tea with lots of sugar!

School Council 2020/21

Mrs. Allen met with the 2020/21 School Council today for the first time.  She was very impressed with how professional everyone was and the wonderful ideas they had already.  It’s going to be a very different year, but we are sure it will still be a busy one too!  Congratulations everyone.
