The children have loved reading Captain Beastlie’s Pirate Party. They know the story so well and can retell it using different voices. They wanted to become real pirates so they made their own telescopes, found about pirate language and learnt how to read maps. They then planned a party for Captain Beastlie’s birthday. They wrote lists of things we needed, using their phonic knowledge to sound out words. They followed a recipe to make a cake and followed instructions to make their own sandwiches. They counted down the days until the party and then dressed up! We had the best time!
