HERITAGE TRAIL

Year 4 braved the cold, damp weather yesterday and started to explore the local area in preparation for their Heritage Trail. They were on the lookout for buildings and areas significant in Cudworth’s past. We spotted things like the Pinfold Hotel, which was on the site of an old enclosure, the Pinfold, which housed stray animals. Mr Hanson, our visiting historian, told the class that a man called the Pinder looked after these stray animals and would charge the owners 1 shilling to get them back. We also spotted the old Manor House, and looked at the site of an old well, now underground, at the end of Wells Street. The children enjoyed their trail of discovery, and are looking forward to finding out more about their local heritage.
